Seeking the Depths of Self explores the human conditions of oneself and the internal feelings that one held within them. While it has elements of self-contained in these paintings, these works explore the psychological aspects of emotions and the states of mind the figures are depicted. Using oil paints as the basis of painting- and incorporating drawing elements into it- having a sense of narrative in each painting allows for the audience to draw their own interpretations of what the work is generally about. With the application of colour and tonal relationships to painting, the series of works have sought to create a loose world invoking certain moods and feelings. Influenced by the works of Surrealism and the imaginary, the body of work expresses the melancholy, the nature of humans in a vivid surreal world.
